Professionals

Job Shadowing is a great opportunity to explore career options and the nice part is, it only takes a minimal commitment of one to several days. Ever wondered what it's like working alongside a veterinarian, journalist, physician, art director, CPA, manager of a nonprofit organization, physical therapist, graphic designer, publisher, account executive, genetic counselor, finance manager, human resources assistant, English translator, TV production assistant, nurse practitioner, forensic social worker, hospital clinical research coordinator, chiropractor, event planner, or legislative assistant? Targeting Your Resume

Targeting your resume is worth the effort. A targeted resume highlights your education and experience and focuses on matching these skills to the position to which you are applying. Finding Internships in a Small Town
For those students spending the summer in a small town or who are finding that internships of interest have deadlines that have already passed, why not do some prospecting with employers you think you'd like to work for. Prospecting often offers students a better experience than a posted internship since students themselves select the site and oftentimes are asked by the employer what type of experience they'd like to get. If you are getting discouraged because you have not yet landed an internship for summer, you might try prospecting. You can begin by contacting alumni from your college who are currently working at employers of interest to you. You might also try checking out the Chamber of Commerce in your town as well as the classified ads in your local newspaper to uncover names...
